Meet Masorti Olami's Shlichim (Year 5769)
Chayl Masorti—the Masorti Peace Corps—sends shlichim (emissaries) to strengthen our kehillot and to build closer ties to Israel. We thank the Jewish Agency for Israel, the World Zionist Organization and MERCAZ Olami for their support.
Yoel Schvartz, shaliach to Latin America since August 2007, made aliyah from Argentina in 1990. He has a B.A. in Jewish History, Sociology and Cultural Anthropology from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem and is working towards an M.A. degree in Jewish Thought and Jewish History. Prior to his shlichut, Yoel was the director of the Institute for Leaders from Abroad (Machon Lamadrichim) of the Jewish Agency in Jerusalem.
Reli Israeli, shlicha to the Masorti UK community since September 2007, is a graduate of the Masorti High School in Jerusalem and received her B.A. in Criminology from Bar Ilan University. Reli served as coordinator of the NOAM Leadership Training course, Director of Educational Programming for NOAM and coordinator of social action projects with students in Hillel Israel. She enjoys working with Masorti youth and adults, strengthening their connection to Israel.
Naomi
Freedman, shlicha to MERCAZ USA and aliyah shlicha for the Jewish Agency, grew up in Jerusalem. She was an active member of NOAM and served on the senior staff of NOAM and Camp Ramah NOAM. Naomi has her B.A. in Sociology and Anthropology from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. She is also a licensed tour guide, certified folk dance instructor and has served as an educational guide for birthright groups, Ramah Israel Seminar and Nesiya.
Naomi Rowen, Nir Issachar and Reut Aisenberg are currently in Melbourne, Australia serving as our shlichim to Bialik College and Kehilat Nitzan. The shlichim work in the area of informal Jewish education at Bialik College, a Jewish day school with students from pre-kindergarten through grade 12. At Kehilat Nitzan they are involved in working with youth and young adults in the kehillah.
Naomi Rowen grew up in Raanana, attended a TALI school and has a wealth of experience as a counselor in NOAM and in Camp Ramah NOAM. She was part of a NOAM garin in the army and served in a female/male combat unit.
Nir grew up in Kiryat Ono, outside of Tel Aviv. He studied in the religious school system and was part of Bnei Akiva youth movement. He served as a paratrooper in the IDF. After his release from the army in November 2008, Nir studied at the Midreshet Ein Parat, a midrasha for leadership development.
Reut Aisenberg grew up in Kiryat Tivon, outside of Haifa. She was an active member and counselor in the Ha’noar Ha’oved Ve’halomed youth movement. She served as a teacher in the IDF, teaching Hebrew and Israel culture to new immigrants and then became an education officer responsible for Nachal groups and teacher-soldiers in the area of Sderot and communities near Gaza. Reut was on the staff of Camp Ramah day camp in Philadelphia.
